How we work

Most projects within the OPALS programme are led by trainees, working with supervisory teams and collabroators across the continent.

To address carbon emissions from OPALS-related travel, we support community-owned offset schemes in Africa. Although this approach is not without limitations, it represents an important step toward ensuring that the ‘polluter pays’ principle contributes to equitable wealth transfer and delivers tangible social and ecological benefits.
